A Journey into the World of Trains
Focusing on the world of trains, for school levels 8–10
The Deutsche Bahn (national rail company) is much more than a means of transport – as the brochure ‘Unterwegs in der Welt der Bahn’ (A journey into the world of trains) proves. The Deutsche Bahn and Stiftung Lesen want to reach out to students from school levels 8–10 and motivate them to deal with daily life situations and questions relevant to society:
- How can traffic be organised in an environmentally friendly way?
- How can a logistic challenge such as the Soccer World Cup be tackled?
- How are goods transported across borders?
The brochure targets youth directly, but it can also be put to use in lessons in different ways. The texts deal with aspects of history, environment, technology, architecture or transport and logistics. They can be read individually, providing a basis for further research in these domains. They are suitable for interdisciplinary work at school.
