Children usually find their way into the world of pictures, words, reading and literacy with adults who read out to them. Though being read out is also a moment of intimacy and appreciation for adults and elderly people.
In March 2013 all over South Tyrol (Italy) reading aloud was at the focus of attention. More than 400 reading aloud initiatives were organized by libraries, nursery schools, elementary and secondary schools, bookshops, museums, cultural institutions and by all those who are interested in reading out. These initiatives took place in all sorts of usual and unusual places: in castles, in hospitals, in parks, all over a village, in an office building, in old peoples’ homes and of course in schools, libraries, museums and bookshopss.
