Reading Aloud Week

Reading aloud is the start of a lifelong enjoyment of books. Each year, in the last week of November, Stichting Lezen presents a wide range of attractive books for reading aloud via daycare centres, kindergartens, libraries and bookshops. The campaign focuses on children of nursery and pre-school age, but, of course, the joy of being read to does not end when children can read for themselves.

The campaign starts with a Reading Aloud breakfast. In each province, famous reading advocates (Princess Mathilde, politicians, weather forecasters, singers and actors) read aloud to a group of young children.

In 2009, the Reading Aloud Week was under the Patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Mathilde.
