Sound Off, Books Open

Ton ab, Buch auf (Sound Off, Books Open) is an innovative reading promotion for 9–10-year-olds. The children can listen to the beginning of an audiobook on a MP3-player. At an interesting point in the story the audio part breaks off. The children then have to find out what happens next by reading the book. To most children the audio file is like a gift, relieving them of the difficult task of reading and providing an easy way of getting into the story at the same time. This project aims to improve reading skills and to motivate children to read.

This project is run by The Swiss Institute for Children’s and Youth Media (SIKJM) (Switzerland)
