You can! Material on the subject of human rights
Each and every one of us can protest against injustice. It begins in the school, at home, in sport, with friends. Don’t look away, show civil courage and act together. This is the call made by the mutual action from the Stiftung Lesen and Amnesty International.
The ‘You can!’ campaign, is intended to encourage pupils to act and to get involved. It is always worthwhile when you stand up for others: for society as such, for human togetherness and for our own individual personal development.
In addition, in line with the recommendation of the Conference of Ministers for Culture, the subject of human rights is to be treated in lessons and, in particular, knowledge and insight into the development of human rights and their current importance in society.
Our magazine for young people in the classes 8-12, ‘Du kannst!’, leads the reader through exciting countries and subjects which are linked to specific possibilities for further reading and action. Participating young people report on their work and explain what human rights actually have to do with music, sports and school.
The accompanying teacher’s book provides background information on the subject of human rights in the school, as well as practical tips for the use of the magazine in interdisciplinary lessons.
